The LYBA (Lexington Youth Basketball Association) is a Winter Travel Team program for boys and girls, grades 4-8, that are residents of the Town of Lexington, Massachusetts. Emphasis is on skills and team play development. We want Lexington kids to love basketball!!!
Our season starts in September with Fall Clinics and Ratings Nights for boys and girls in the 4th through 8th grades. We also offer clinics for 2nd and 3rd graders. Teams are formed based on ratings, and coaches are named after the teams are formed. All grades may have an A, B, and C team, depending on the number of players registered. LYBA strives to place all registrants onto teams, but sometimes there are cuts. Eligibility is grade (not age) based, no exceptions.
First Practices are early to mid-November. First Games are after Thanksgiving, although sometimes teams have scrimmages before then. Teams will have 1-2 practices per week, on weeknights, and 1-2 games on weekends. Typically, teams will not play during school vacations, though some may elect to enter tournaments during the December holiday break and February vacation break. Season concludes in early March, typically with Playoffs and Tournaments.
We will have ratings nights for girls & boys in grades 4 through 8. Please note, your child must attend BOTH ratings nights unless otherwise noted. Tentatively, all tryouts will be held at Lexington High School main gym and field house, and check in will take place outside the gym, starting 30 minutes before the rating session.
Also, stay tuned for announcement of Fall clinics to prepare for the season!
Lastly, LYBA is recruiting volunteers to help with logistics of tryouts, season preparation, coaching, and additional Board Members to assist in managing the Season and Organization. Please contact email@example.com if interested.
LHS Coaches Steve Solly and Reggie Hobbs invite LYBA players to attend their Fall Player Development Program that they run through Hoop Mountain at Clarke Middle School on Wed. nights, starting 9/12 (this Wednesday).
There is a drop-in rate of $30 per session with a deposit of $75 to register.
